JLOJC Receives $1000 Grant to Expand Kids in the Kitchen
KITK coordinator Chantel Ponts hopes to expand Kids in the Kitchen next year with a grant from the Ashland Food Co-op Community Grants that will enable the JLOJC to continue the program with the addition of a garden and maybe some tree planting. AFC presented the award to Chantel and Christina Lassman on May 21, 2009. Way to go Chantel! Kids who participated in the program last fall spent six weeks preparing food, learning about nutrition and feeding needy families. Chef David Kruger from Cuisine De Jour provided the cooking expertise and JL members helped in the kitchen in partnership with Kids Unlimited.
